City FM Bunnings

The client's requirement is to ensure that on a national level, all switchboards in Bunnings stores comply with electrical regulations by installing safety switches in all switchboards.

The Challenge

Upgrading RCDs involves shutting off power to parts of the building or even the entire building, which can cause inconvenience and downtime for the stores. This is particularly challenging in commercial properties such as Bunnings, where any interruption in power supply can cause financial losses or effect customer satisfaction.

The QA Electrical Solution

To overcome this challenge, the upgrade process was carefully planned and scheduled for times that were least disruptive to the property's operations. This involved working outside of normal business hours, such as overnight or on weekends, to minimise the impact on trading. In addition, our communication with the Bunnings staff was critical to ensure that everyone was aware of the upgrade schedule and any potential disruptions.

Our comprehensive solution has provided the retailer with a sense of security, as we managed all aspects of the rollout process. This includes scheduling works with the stores and conducting any necessary fault-finding work in the event of any discovered faults. In addition, our team spent the time to develop a detailed spreadsheet to monitor job statuses, contributing to the smooth and efficient rollout of the project.

Our Results

We successfully replaced over 25,000 circuit breakers with RCD’s at stores all over Australia.

Following the installation of RCDs, these Bunnings stores now possess essential safety features, including protection against electric shock, fire risk reduction, and equipment protection.

‍

Ultimately, the success of the RCD upgrade resulted from our team balancing the need for safety with the need for continuity of operations, while also minimising any inconvenience to the stores.
