The client needed to supply the new processing facility with power but the main switchboard had no spare capacity for a new connect. The site’s power factor correction unit was faulty and wasn’t working to the full capacity of the site.

The Challenge

To supply and install a new site main switchboard that would fit into the existing space with future capacity available. Making sure all the existing sub-main could be terminated back into the new switchboard with little change to the original position as they are SWA cables and are tight for length. Sizing the correct power factor correction unit.

The QA Electrical Solution

Working with the customer and a switchboard manufacturer we came up with a design to suit the needs of the customer and fit into the existing main switch room. QA Electrical's industrial service installed power logging equipment to scope the correct power factor correction unit and make sure it would have capacity for future equipment.

Client now has future capacity for the site and can expand their operation when needed and are no longer limited onsite with ageing infrastructure. Power factor correction has saved the client money on the energy bill by helping to keep the site as efficient as possible.
